Medical Massage Therapy Offers Drug-Free Relief

Are you in pain? The Medical Massage Therapy Center in Charlotte’s Dilworth neighborhood can provide drug-free relief for the pain and discomfort of any type of soft tissue dysfunction resulting from accidents, carpal tunnel syndrome, or sports injuries. In addition, massage therapy has been shown to help with depression and anxiety.

Medical massage therapist Andrea Constand also specializes in oncology massage therapy. “There is a lot of secondary pain caused by cancer treatments,” she explains. “We can help alleviate pain for our clients while they are going through the treatments.”

Constand trained in Canada, where massage therapy is strictly regulated and readily accepted as a viable treatment option. This past April, she opened the Dilworth clinic as part of the Charlotte area’s growing movement toward integrated medicine, which uses nature, naturopathic medicine, and other therapies to relieve pain and restore health.

The Medical Massage Therapy Center also offers the only Electro Interstitial Scanner in the area. Designed by European doctors and widely used in Europe and Canada, the EIS is on the cutting edge of diagnostic technology and can generate an overall basic health profile in just three minutes.

To obtain an EIS scan, the therapist strategically tapes electrodes on the client’s body, placing the hands and feet on special pads. The EIS then sends out a small, painless, direct current, tracking its path through the fluid surrounding individual cells.

The test produces a printout detailing any problems identified — thyroid issues, gastrointestinal troubles, high cholesterol, and a number of other conditions — along with suggestions for possible treatments such as acupuncture, recommended exercises, homeopathic remedies, as well as a full nutritional printout, and more.

“This information helps our clients take control of their health,” says Constand, who designs an individualized treatment plan for each client to help resolve his or her particular area of concern, without relying on prescription drugs. “So many people tell me, ‘I really want to get off my medication,’ ” she says. “If you want to be proactive about your health, this is the way to go about it.” TCW
